It’s a cake on a stick!

We’ve been wanting to ‘have a go’ at making cake pops for a while. To be perfectly honest, we originally couldn’t  see the point of having a cake on a stick!

We invested in all the equipment needed which is basically a lollipop stick and an ingenious thing called candy melts, and off we went on our cake pop making adventure!

It was all very simple….you bake a cake and then crumble it up (which was great fun!). You then add a type of buttercream and put the whole thing in the fridge.

While it was chilling we melted the candy melts which are a little like coloured chocolate. Once the were melted we formed the chilled cake mix into balls, added the sticks and began the process of dipping them in the melted candy.

Our kids were enthralled and all sat around the table watching us open mouthed as we created our cake pops. We topped them off with jubilee crowns that we had made the day before before wrapping them in cellophane and finishing the whole thing off with a silver ribbon.

They looked fantastic and as you can see from the photo, really stood out on our stall at The Earlsdon Festival and at £1.50 per pop they were great pocket money treats!

By the end of the festival we had sold out all but two cake pops, we managed to wrestle them off the kids and tucked into one each with a warming cup of tea after a very wet and cold day. They were delicious and we’ve definitely changed our opinion of ‘cakes on a stick’!

Cake pops are ideal as wedding favours, baby shower gifts or sweet treats. At only £1.50 each with a minimum order of 10.
